My story is like any other. The difference is in the telling of the story. I began this project because I wanted to make an attempt to recover some of the voices of the refugees, sharecroppers, and commanders of Calvert County, MD. However, in doing so, I realized that this is not just a book about the past. It is a map for the future. It is a reminder that no matter how far we travel from Deep Landing Road, the “Sunderland Red” is in our DNA, and that the “Method” of our ancestors is the secret to our success.
