“Buganda’s Baganda Collectivism explores the enduring legacy of one of Africa’s most significant kingdoms through the lens of economics, politics, and culture. This comprehensive examination reveals how the Baganda people’s collective systems have enabled their resilience and adaptation through centuries of change. Central to this analysis is the understanding that economics forms the foundation of self-determination. Without economic sovereignty, no people can truly control their destiny. This principle guides the exploration of Buganda’s evolution from pre-colonial trade networks through colonial exploitation to contemporary challenges and opportunities. Drawing on traditional African knowledge systems and modern innovations, this work offers insights into how indigenous wisdom can create sustainable pathways forward for African societies. Essential reading for scholars, students, and anyone interested in African studies and the Great Lakes region.”

A.R. Segawa, from Uganda, is an Environmental Engineer, Buganda scholar, and former US Army 12T Technical Engineer who deployed to the Middle East. His military experience informs his passion for sustainable building systems, specializing in Zero Energy and Passive Buildings design. Beyond engineering, he is a devoted student of Medu Netcher and African spirituality, with beliefs in NTCHIR and NTCHRU—spiritual concepts of creation and the creator. He recognizes the Almighty as intricate force permeating nature, embodying ancestral consciousness. His scholarly work explores Baganda economics and traditional practices like Kyogero, demonstrating how ancient wisdom contributes to community resilience. Segawa integrates modern sustainability with African traditions, advocating environmental stewardship rooted in spiritual frameworks, creating solutions.
