In 1970s New York, all sequins and soot, a gifted young performer leaves Tennessee for Broadway and is swept into a dazzling underworld of velvet nights, society salons, and backstage hunger. Charm wins him patrons, lovers, and a foothold in fame, but every ascent demands a sacrifice. As success deepens into entanglement with wealth, desire, and betrayal, he learns that reinvention is both art and peril. Sensual, sharp, and steeped in theatrical glamour, this is a coming-of-age story where applause can feel like salvation—and the spotlight, at any moment, can turn devouring.

JP McCann became involved in professional theatre at the age of fifteen and moved to New York after graduation from high school to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

He spent the late 1960s and 1970s in New York City as a theatre professional, building a resume of over forty named musicals as a performer, choreographer, and director, as well as stints in industrial and fashion shows.

This show business story incorporates many real-life moments gleaned from those years as a “Gypsy” and a lover of New York City and the Great White Way.
