During a decade and a half of guiding Christian visitors to Israel, I came to realize that a lack of understanding of historical context was serving as a barrier preventing most Bible-readers from enjoying the full inspirational depth of the Scriptures they love. These visitors aspire to see the Bible brought to life while touring the landscape, but the gaps in knowledge, throughout the ages, have produced many misunderstandings and even some myths. My desire to explain the historical, contextual background to much-loved stories in Scripture, thereby revealing their greater richness, formed the basis and motive for this book.I was born and educated in England but I made Aliyah to Israel (literally: “moved up”) over 40 years ago. In 2009 I earned a Ministry of Tourism license, and began my 3rd career, as an Israeli Tour Guide. I have now specialized in leading in-depth Biblical and historical tours to Israel for well over a decade.I make my home in the center of Israel, close to my daughters and grandchildren, in this Land of my ancestors which I love.
