Hello, my future readers,
I am Lex C. Rider, the author of Mortal Gods: Demonic Ages. I first started writing Mortal Gods when I was 16 years-old, in my junior year of high school. Before that, I had always been haunted by the thought of growing up because I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I had grown up watching my parents work in anything from office jobs to food industry to retail, and they always came home miserable so as a young, impressionable child I thought that no matter what work you were doing you were always going to be miserable. Then, in high school, I was introduced to the world of Gothic Literature because I had signed up for an alternative version of junior year English class. In that class, we read things like Edgar Allen Poe and other Gothic short stories like The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. These stories inspired me to seek out authors like H. P. Lovecraft and Anne Rice, who also saw the beauty in the gothic tales they told. Eventually, I sought out to write my Gothic story. This all inspired me to write the first draft of Mortal Gods: Demonic Ages, though this was before it ever had the subtitle Demonic Ages. This story took 6 years to write into it’s current glory, and I never would’ve been inspired enough to write this if not for the teacher of my Gothic Literature class, Mrs. Hen Jen. She was the first person to ever read Mortal Gods from start to finish, she was the one who truly made me feel like I could publish a book and do well. She was the first to introduce me to my own potential, and I never would’ve done this without her.
I hope all of my readers enjoy my story as much as I do, and I assure you, dear readers, this is only the beginning.
Lex C. Rider
