J. René Walker is no stranger to breaking barriers. As a respected real estate leader and mentor, she has helped countless professionals and families navigate life-changing decisions. But her most personal and profound journey began with three words no one ever wants to hear: “You have cancer.”
That diagnosis shifted her fight from boardrooms and contracts to hospital rooms and prayers. Along the way, she discovered grit she didn’t know she had, grace she couldn’t live without, and a mission bigger than herself — to walk alongside women facing the same uphill climb. When she’s not writing or speaking encouragement into others’ lives, René continues to shape the real estate world, lead her foundation Her First Place (helping Black women become first-time homeowners), and inspire audiences across the country. She lives in Texas with her husband, Phil, and their son, Christian. J. René finds joy in teaching, mentoring, and reminding others that even in life’s most brutal battles, God is still good.
