My Bruises Inside is a powerful exploration of resilience, identity, and healing for men of color. Drawing from lived experience and research from Dr. Espinoza’s doctoral dissertation, Legacy of Learning: The Journey of Males of Color and the Sustaining Power of Community Cultural Wealth, Dr. Marvin Espinoza, a recipient of the Outstanding Doctoral Award at California State University, San Bernardino, confronts the unseen wounds shaped by trauma, stereotypes, and silence, and shows how they can be transformed into strength.

Through stories, strategies, and reflection, this book affirms that vulnerability is not a weakness but rather the gateway to growth. A guide for individuals, educators, and communities, My Bruises Inside offers hope, empowerment, and a path forward: to rise, to heal, and to reclaim the power of one’s story.
